AGI Tips for Holiday Hosting
It’s cliche to say, but it is hard to believe the holidays are nearly upon us. Because so much of our family live out of state, we don’t often have the chance to host for a large group. Instead, we typically host stays for family, and small gatherings with friends. That’s not to say I don’t take the opportunity to polish up my hospitality skills, and make even the smallest gatherings festive and meaningful.
Here’s a few things I do when we’re expecting guests:
1. A Well-Stocked Bar: I make sure we’ve accounted for our guests’ drink of choice, and have it on-hand, with plenty of cocktail add-ins. We always have sparkling water and fruit juices as well, for anyone who wants an alcohol-free festive beverage.
2. A Festive Tabletop: The holidays are a fun time to keep a formal table set with the flourishes of the season. Even if we’re not hosting a sit-down dinner, a styled table is a must for setting a beautiful backdrop for food.
3. Guest Room Amenities: For overnight guests, I make sure the bed linens are freshly washed. If I’m feeling extra Martha, I’ll iron them, too! On the bedside, I’ll place some flowers or greenery, a couple of bottles of water, along with an extra phone charger, and our wifi password. I want our guests to feel a little bit pampered, while still feeling very “at home.”
The holidays are a time to add those special little touches, that let guests know they are worth the extra time and thought it takes to make your home a wonderful place to visit.
