Q&A Session with AG
Last month, I held a live Q&A (with cocktails!) session via Instagram. It was a lot of fun, and some of the questions that came up were ones I get asked frequently. So, I thought it would be great to put a few of them down for anyone who wasn’t able to join in the live session.
Q: What’s your favorite room to design?
AG: I have to say, my love for all manner of finishes: tile, plumbing fixtures, hardware, and cooking gadgets make kitchens one of my top spaces to design. So much thought goes into making a kitchen functional, but also a part of the rest of the home. It’s a fun challenge!
Q: Do you start a design with a rug, or certain piece of furniture?
AG: All designs must begin with a floorplan. A great rug, piece of art, or heirloom piece of furniture can set the tone for the design concept, but the floorplan will ultimately dictate how the room takes shape.
Q: How did you get started?
AG: I’ve always loved to decorate, I just never knew interior design was a profession! It wasn’t until I started reading a blog written by an interior designer in 2008 that I understood design is something other than a friend’s mom who “does houses.” After a lot of other education, and work in the corporate world, I discovered that being a creative, and business owner is truly where my heart is. I took a certification course at the local community college, and hung my shingle!
Q: What are your go-to shades of white paint?
AG: I love: Pure White by Sherwin Williams, Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore, and Solaris by Portola Paint.
Q: What is your favorite item to find for a project?
AG: I love a fantastic, vintage rug, a cool lamp, or a great chair - the more unique the better!
